What's New

2001 Updates

00.12.17 - I've added a pointless LallyStatistics table to the maps page. We've added several interesting tidbits to our Outlandish Reference page, saved from several posts on the Books Board. Thank you to Lady Elleon for the notes on the real Geillis Duncan, and a Damselfly in Amber, and to Lady Judy G for the note on Rose Hall. Hammie keeps visiting the Hosers, so don't forget to check the Hammie Board for more of Hammie's Hosed Adventures, by Lady Charyl. After Khelli and StefanieS, this time Hammie meets Ed. Sometimes all it takes is an innocent wee post... From the Best of LOL Archives, don't miss the hosed O Tapes thread. It's LallyChristmas! Have a look at the First Annual Lallyornaments 2000 page, by Lady Sues. Congratulations to all the ladies who participated. Good work, Hosers! The Lallyornaments are beautiful!

00.11.27 - Lady Carmen sent us notice of two articles of great interest by Diana Gabaldon about writing and publishing. Look for more info on the Non Fiction section on the Books by Diana Gabaldon page. And also the link to Word By Word: The Fun & Easy Way to Write,  by Susan K. Perry, Ph.D, an article on the technique of writing, using Diana Gabaldon as an example, that we've also added to our links page.  For all of us who love the poems in the Outlander Series, Lady Cynthia sent a very interesting note about Requiem, a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson, that Claire quotes to Jamie in Dragonfly in Amber, and we've added it to our Outlandish Reference page. Thank you, both!

00.11.21 - STOP THE PRESSES!!!! Read Diana Gabaldon's announcement about the Outlander Movie! Lady Shadow sent us a series of hosed "Hammie-posts" she saved from several boards, so we added the true story of Hammie - LOL's Demoniacal Pet Hamster to the Best of LOL collection. And keeping with the theme, follow Hammie as he visits the Hosers all over the world. Thanks to Lady Charyl! Catch up with the Surrey 2000 Gathering with Herself, in Lady M&M's lovely and hosed Surrey 2000 pages. Lady M&M has updated the LOL Trivia Archives! All games are there now, except for the December 1999 and February 2000 games. If any Hoser saved those, we'd appreciate it if you sent us a copy. If you missed Diana Gabaldon's very interesting chat at The Washington Post, last October, you can catch up on the news by reading the transcripts.

00.10.02 - Lady Carmen found out that the cover for Das Schwert von Avalon is not the only American edition cover reused for a different book in Germany. We added to our Gallery of Covers a photo of the cover created by John Jude Palencar for "Forest House" by Marion Zimmer Bradley, reused in Jenseits von Avalon, the anthology that includes the short story The Castellan by Diana Gabaldon and her son, Samuel Watkins. Check out the LOL Books Board for this week's surprise Quote-of-the-Day poster! Diana Gabaldon, Herself! Don't miss the new excerpts (NO SPOILERS) from the forthcoming The Fiery Cross. Thank you, Diana! :-)

00.09.26 - Lady Marguerite brought to our attention an interesting fact: the cover used for Das Schwert von Avalon, the German edition of the Excalibur Anthology, which includes the short story Surgeon's Steel by Diana Gabaldon,  is the same cover created by Michael Whelan for Melanie Rawn's The Mageborn Traitor. You can compare in our Gallery of Covers. Make sure you don't miss the Outlander Humor Links page, by Lady Elleon. It's without a doubt the funniest Outlandish page online. Lady Sabrina, from France, sent us a beautiful drawing of Jamie Fraser, for the Outlandish Illustrations page. Thank you!

00.09.17 - Voyager has been published in Poland, and we added its cover to our Gallery of Covers. Check out Lady Lilith's CLAN Fraser page. It has a lot of information and beautiful photos of Castle Fraser and Scotland. And Lady Sylvia's Home Page has two sections devoted to Diana Gabaldon and Ladies of Lallybroch... It doesn't hurt that it has great photos of Liam Neeson in there too. :-) Lady M.F. sent us a beautiful pastel painting of a Scottish castle for our Outlandish Illustrations page.  Summer was the Season for the big Gatherings. A lot of Hosers posted reports from the Fergus Gathering, and Diana Gabaldon, Herself, posted a note on the Social Board too. Lady Antje made a beautiful page with her photos from the Scotland 2000 trip. If any other MacHoser has a page about these Gatherings and wants to have it linked in LOL, just let us know. New Boards... ITW has been making changes in their system, and unfortunately the boards have been acting up. To insure our daily Lallyfix,  Lady CF created a new Backup Board, at http://www.voy.com/9205. You might want to bookmark it, in case the other boards disappear through the cyber-stones. Also, by popular demand, Lady Vicki created an Unpublished Excerpts Board, for those who don't mind spoilers and eagerly read every little paragraph posted by Diana Gabaldon. Don't miss the results of Lady M&M's very hosed Scottishstudmuffin contest. Travel back in time, with the updated Lady Niki & Lady M&M's LOL Trivia Archives!

Thanks, Lady Carmen!

00.06.05 - There's a new article about Diana Gabaldon at The Chicago Tribune: Outlandish Achievement. Check it out, because it actually quotes a bit from our own LOL chat with Diana Gabaldon, back in June 1999. It's not credited though, so if you want to know which bit we're talking about, maybe you should read our chat transcript again :-) Our thanks to Lady Eugenia and Lady Nadine, who both sent us the translation for the Polish covers of Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber, and to Lady Vega, who helped us identify the Circulo de Lectores Spanish Editions of the Outlander series, and sent us the missing Outlander (Forastera) cover of these editions!
